About us
We offer a varied programme for our members with a choice to be able to enjoy, learn and take part in a range of different activities. In addition to the activities you can enjoy in your Institute you can also make the most of events arranged at the WI County level. These are provided by County Committees.
Arts and Leisure is all about enriching the lives of our members by providing fun and engaging activities focused on creativity, relaxation and exploration. They hold a range of activities throughout the year and organise holidays and theatre trips.
Health, Education and Public Affairs (HEPA) is a busy and active committee that advises, educates and promotes awareness of the main objectives of the WI and what is important to members.
Promotions is a hardworking and creative committee responsible for promoting the WI within Carmarthenshire in a wide variety of ways including a range of very popular promotional gift items. This committee organises a number of craft days and the annual WI County Show.
Membership Advisory are the backbone of support
for individual WIs and the Federation. They act as a friendly and knowledgeable resource for WI members, helping them get the most out of their experience. Advisers are responsible for forming new Wis and supporting existing ones.
Trustees play a crucial leadership role at the Federation level acting as governing body. This group is made up of elected volunteers are responsible for ensuring the WI fulfils its charitable objectives and achieves a strategic vision.
Our committees are made of individual volunteers that are active all year round to keep members busy and entertained. We always welcome more help with these activities so whether you can offer an hour here or there or want to be totally immersed at County level let us know!
Details of all the events coming up in the County are set out in the County Monthly Newsletter which is given out in the Institute's Monthly Meeting. If you are interested in doing anything you just need to let your secretary know so that she can put your name down on the appropriate form. Don’t worry if you are the only person interested in doing something – there will be a warm welcome waiting for you.
Book Clubs
If you have a love of reading there are also two Book Clubs in the County – one in Llanelli which meets 10-12 noon on the first Monday of the month at Glenalla Hall and one in Carmarthen which meets 10.30 to 12.30 pm on the third Thursday of the month at Carmarthen Bowls Club. Each club gives you an opportunity to connect with others with a love of literature and discover new authors and explore different genres.
