Chairman's Message

Welcome to the Sir Gar Carmarthenshire Federation of Women's Institutes - a vibrant community of women who come together to learn, to laugh and make a difference. It's a place to connect with like minded people, explore new interests and support each other.

The County has Institutes throughout the whole of Carmarthenshire made up of women of all ages, backgrounds and interests. Each Institute holds regular meetings and plans their own programme of varied activities to cater for a wide range of interests and tastes. In addition, Sir Gar Carmarthenshire plan an extensive programme of fun and educational activities for members to enjoy.

Members can also play an active part in the many campaigns and causes supported by NFWI. Whatever your interests why not explore if there is a WI near you.

If you contact us, we will get back to you to discuss where your nearest Institutes are and what they have to offer. You can visit different Institutes as a guest before deciding which one to join but whichever ones you visit you can be assured of a friendly welcome.

We have our own County Office at 11 St. Peter's Street Carmarthen (conveniently close to a large  car park) which was bought in 1981 with money raised by members. The office is open Wed & Fri 10am - 3pm.

A number of committees work out of the office to put a range of events in different parts of the County so that as many members as possible can attend. Mary Ford, our Secretary, works part time out of the office to co-ordinate the activities that we put on.
